The Program is aimed at emerging and highly motivated public sector managers with one of the following pre-requisites:

  1. An undergraduate degree;
  2. An upper-level Public Service Training Package (PSTP) qualification plus 3 years work experience; and
  3. 5 years public sector work experience at mid level management

Participants from the state sector are typically drawn from Level 6-8 but level 5 people are eligible based on their circumstance. At Commonwealth level,  APS 6 to EL1 are the cluster with APS 5 eligible depending on circumstance. Local government would draw from Shire CEOs, Managers of Finance, Coporate Services, Community Development and Town Planning to name a few.

People with no academic background are encouraged to apply as there is no blue print for success based solely on previous academic experience. People with tecnical and operational backgrounds gain valuable leadership and management knowledge in a public sector context. 

People intending to apply for the Program are encouraged to attend one of the Information sessions held by the PSM Program Office.
